Still running like plop when cold...help!

I've been having cold running problems with my 1990 316i
When you start it in the morning it runs rough and when you lightly touch the throttle it tries to cut out.
Once its warmed up a bit, drive a minute up the road, its fine.
I've changed the blue temp sensor which made no difference, and i cleaned out the flap on the thing at the back of the intake (idle air control valve?) which again made no difference.
Any ideas?
