If it missfires for about 10 seconds and you have changed the plugs and checked everything under the bonnet then it looks like you are going to have to look a little deeper.
Not entirely sure how the fuel system works on injection cars, but, it could be a fuel supply problem.
I am no expert but suggest running the engine then shutting off, try restarting whilst leaving longer and longer intervals between stopping and reatarting. Is there a minimum time between stopping and restarting where the missfire does not occur?
The aim is to see if fuel is draining back down the system.
Its probably a long shot but if its nothing to do with fuel supply at least you can eliminate this problem.
Good luck

ECU fault maybe?

Could be related to your headgasket failure couldn't it? Poor running and a rough idle/misfire is likely to happen when you have a blown headgasket/shagged head. Not sure why it only does it for 10 seconds though.

Ian I can't really see from those pictures too well, but the gasket looks ok. Was there any burn marks between the cylinders or not, its just the gasket is now covered in oil, and i can't see jack shit. I changed a head gasket in a nasty vauxhall of some description not too long ago and you could see exactly where it was leaking from, plus the gasket started disintergrating when i removed it. From your pictures your gasket looks ok, but that is just from the pictures.

Sorry to say it, sure you haven't got a duff head? You should get somewhere to pressure check it anyway before refitting it.

Just re read your writing, so it looks like its loads of minor blows then, well in that case you may have caught it in time, before the head went pop bang wizz. I would still get it pressure tested just in case :D

plan of action jon m8 was get it pressure tested , then get the valves reseated and sorted , skim head new water pump , cam belt & tensioner , new head bolts , head gasket hopefully all will be good i will do u a better picture of the gasket tomz anyway keep the thread updated shouldnt be too much to get that done surely?lol :(

Sounds like a good plan of action to me mate. I'm not sure what the going rate is for a pressure check, but if it needs a skim-(which i doubt) that will be under 50 notes. To be honest once you have it sorted it will be much nicer knowing that the headgasket won't blow, the cambelt won't snap etc etc. Should see it well into and beyond the 200k barrior.

Good luck, keep the thread updated with lots of piccys, perhaps you could do a guide winkeye
