Hi guys,

Just out of interest, what sort of power would a port and polish, long deg cam (but still road legal), cold air pressurized induction and remap geton a 325i? 185ish / 180lb?

Yeah you could get up to 190 bhp ish that's what bimmerlad had on his which daz has now got, got a print out to prove it. He had a cam porting and a stand alone ecu.

not me

have piper fast road camset full set
and some head work etc and a fully mapped superchip

if i can be bothered it will also have the 6branch fitted by sunday 200bhp ??? hmmmm i wonder

Cool, I would expect around 185's so that's not bad.

Oh yeh on the induction, sorry motorbike speak, you know they have pressurized air boxes / induction dependent upon the speed you are travelling. If ever I put an induction kit on, I usualy fashion a nice big airdam from the front, encasing the filter.

heres what mine has had done

full stainless system
piper cam
rocker arms /spraybar
head machining
cut 12 valve seats and valves
reskim n face
de coke/polish of faces and pistons refaced ex manifold

fit and remap superchip to suit above
also fse fuel pressure reg
total cost £2,500 oucccccch
this was in jan 2000

Superchip is stand alone isn't it? Or am I think ing of uni chip?
That pressurised air stuff makes no differance what soever you have to be going 150mph+ before you gain 0.1hp and that would be on a really well designed induction system.

Lol dude, I'm not talking about it like it will put loads of positive pressure / boost through, thats pretty impossible unless you are travelling several thousand miles an hour, basically, that's what an airbox with a decent front airdam feed and sealed is called, a pressurised airbox, because that's what it is, otherwise known as a Ram-ari system which nearly 100% of sportsbikes use lol. I take it you do not own bikes otherwise you would know it DOES make a difference which I am sure anyone else who owns a half decent sportsbike on here will verify.

And there is prrof that it works, it does make a difference, sucking in ambient hot air from the engine bay does nothing for performance, infact, I would say it is worse than any stock intake. However, having a flow of cool air into it a well designed pressure box does. Why do you think the new Yammy R1 is only 160ish hp at normal speeds and above around 80mph rockets to 180ish? Also many racing companies use them on the track in touring cars, it is well known that a pressurised box or ram-air design will increase hp. It's impossible also to tell how much air flowing into a ram-air or pressurised system will increase hp, it is totally dependant upon the type of engine, surface mass of the filter and the ability of flow or air into the plenum and the head, last of all of course the speed of which you are travelling. But as an example, fitting one on a normal 2.0 sports car model / engine instead of a stock restricted intake could see anything from 1hp-12hp increase. I would imagine with a decent head on a 325i you may see around a 4-5hp increase if you are lucky from ram air.

And please, the so call induction kits which are called RAM-AIR, rarely are, they are usually just an open filter with a pipe which will still be prone to heat soak.
