Having just got my hands on a sport diff, i wanted to change the oil. However, after visiting my local bmw dealer they told me it is not available unless i take my car in and they change it for me (dealer prices). i was told the reason is because they buy the oil in drums and therefore cant sell it to the general public in seperate containers. Is this true and if so can i get the diff oil from anywhere else? they reckon that it is specialist oil so not available elsewhere!

Take a 2l bottle of coke into the Service department and ask them to fill it with LSD oil. They should do it, no reason why not!
And yes its true places like Halfords will not sell LSD oil.
OR you can order it from Oilman, look at the top of this page (first thread)

I thought they were just trying to make a fast buck for nothing! i will ask them if they will just fill up a bottle and i will change it myself.

Comma do an LSD oil at very reasonable prices. Your local motorfactors should be able to get it. Cost about £7/L.
