E30 Zone

Afternoon all,

I'll be needing 4 new tyres shortly and need some advice! Currently i've got toyo t1-r on the back and random economy crap on the front. I've lost confidence in the toyos in the wet (supposedly at their best?) and so fancy something different.

So what i'm looking for is good balance between good wet and dry grip.

What do you all reckon?

Could they just be getting worse in the wet because the tread is getting low or have they been like that from the start?

I had Yokohama AVS ES100 tyres on when I first got my 323i and they seemed ok. I did some track days and some dirt racing with them as well. I don't know how they compare price wise compared to the Toyos but they look like they might be similar?

I have Toyo Trampio R1R (I think) tyres now. They might be a bit to much of a race tyre for what you want though. They are very good on bitumen and probably better than the Yokohama's on dirt too. In the wet they seem ok to me but I don't have that much power. They aren't any worse than the Yokohama's anyway. The only problem is I think they only come in 195/55/15 & 205/50/16 and they probably wear faster than most normal road tyres. They have been ok for me though and I have done a few track days on them, I don't drive the car every day though.

I've used Pirelli P6000's and Bridgestone RE720's.

The P6000's are fairly good all-rounders, and pretty hard-wearing. There is a fair difference between wet and dry performance tho'.

The RE720's are (imho) really good tyres. I ran them on my road rally car for a season. They give good grip in all conditions, and there's a fairly linear drop off in grip as the roads get slippier. They've got really heavy-duty sidewalls to, so they're practically unburstable!

Im using Toyo T1-Rs all round and they havent given me any problems, driven it a fair bit in the recent rain/snow and its been fine on the soggy roads!
Some people on the zone fancy Goodyear Eagle F1s so you could give them a go?

adam, i have goodyear eagle f1's all round and finf them quite predictable in the wet, have to really honk it to get wheelspin in a straight line even in the wet.

F1's all the way, don't p!ss about with other stuff loads of people on here use them and are well happy

Regardless of what you buy, make sure all 4 tyres are the same as this will make alot of difference to the handling.

Previous cars I've had have had different tyres and I thought the handling was crap, but when I put 4 new tyres on the handing was a lot better, and not just down to tyre wear on the old tyres.

yeah, even the tyre place said they were shite when i got em replaced!!! Ive been in a car just understeer off the road doin sensible speeds with these on put new tyres on and could go much quicker! plus they wear badly (not nec quickly if you see what i mean..)

What are you currently running?

Used to swear by P6000s on my BBS 15s. Very good all round hard wearing tyre - average 23k between changes. Switched to PZeros Assimetrics when I got the Alpina 16s on. Can't say they are anything special - have lost the back end a couple of times of late and they're not really worn. Seemed to hold the track well the only time I tried them. I think I will be going for Eagle F1s next time 'round.

Im running a mixed bag atm

Tyres ive been most impressed by so far are Toyo Proxes and Uniroyal Rainsports

Eagle F1's are awesome, i've never heard bad about them

Used to run P6000's on my Astra Sport and didnt like em tbh, grip wasnt there.. They did wear well tho!!
