Just wanted to make sure it was set correctly really - presumably then if the ECU decides my timing does that mean I have a knock sensor? also, the inductive sensor that runs from the HT lead has broken through (so is not connected) - will this cause problems? the crank sensor is conncted up and working.
I want to know if I need to spend silly money buying leads or not.

No knock sensing on the M20 dude, the indutive pickup will not hamper perfoemnace if its detatched, more for diagnostics than anything else in this application fella, you can buy that seperatly anyways.
as for testing the timing, you can do it using a strobe but you'll need one where you can dial up the stated advance and view @ the TDC marker.
