Oil Cooler fixing

Finally got round to fixing my new oil cooler brackets today. Cut the cable ties holding the cooler in place 
and found it incredibly tight to get between the brackets and the front valance, and when in place the cooler is covered by the front valance except for about 1/2", is that right?
Then found that the extra pressure on the pipes popped one end off(old stripped thread)
Am I doing something wrong again dad?
