Wibbly Wobbly

Recently had some new 17 rims fitted with 205/40's done by the retailer.
Steering is now pretty shakey at all speed's. Took the back and they re-balanced but the problem is still there. Had 16's before with 205/45's and they used to have a little wobbly from 50-60 but otherwise ok.
Can anyone shed any light?

thanks.

probably spigot rings mate

if the centre bore of the alloy hub ain't the same size as the centre of the hub then the alloy doesn't sit true on the hub, so they will balance up fine on the machine in the tyre place, but shake like a shitting dog at 50mph plus.

Alpina reps are famous for it. sometimes the spigot rings supplied with alloys are gash.

shagged track rod ends also induce wheel wobble, but given it all arose with the fitment of the new alloys it's the spigot rings i would look into first.

Worst case scenario is £20 for a new set of spigot rings

hope that sorts her out

That's interesting, I'm sure they said the spacer's were hub-centric £25 a pair?
How would I tell the diff with the wheel off. Do the universal ones have slotted holes?

Yes universal ones usually do have slotted holes. £25 a pair for hub-centric is a lot cheaper than I paid for mine....mine were £140 all in for a set of four (15mm wide polished alloy ones) with 16 longer bolts and postage. I thought I got mine for a fair price - hope I wasn't done.
