i've recently seen a lot of discussion about touring suspension and having m-tech stuff as standard.
recently i bought a full used set of 318is shocks with the intention of swapping over to stiffen things u a bit. the ones i bought are boge.
will these actually be an upgrade on the 325i touring ones?
i'm going to keep my current springs as it's at a nice (lower) ride height and looks good, i was just hoping for a stiffer set of shocks. if i swap, will it be worthwhile?

I wouldnt of thought a set of 318is shocks would be a upgrade on 325i m-tech dampers...Wouldnt they be under dampered?? due to the lighter 318is engine.
Might be best to check part numbers before you fit.

As I understand it, Touring shocks are the same as MTech ones, but the springs are not MTech.
Now someone will come along and correct me!

I just took off the original suspension on my 325 Touring and they were Boge dampers with the 51mm dia front struts.I think it was just the 325 tourings that had the M-Tech suspension as standard but i'm not 100% sure.
Rear springs have got to be from a touring or they will ride to low,i found this out the hard way.
I was going to use Spax M3 springs all round but the rear was to low for my taste,i ended up using Spax M3 front springs and Spax Touring (-40mm?) springs for the rear.I'm also using adjustable spax dampers.
Excuse the dirty car but this is the only picy i've got of it with the new suspension on.

that looks like a very similar ride height to mine. i assume the springs are correct but it's still on std shocks so tends to ride on / near it's bump stops.
boing boing!
i assume any set of adjustable shocks would llow me to use my current springs and set it up nicely. right?

i also found out the hard way, as the saloon springs are way too low

Mate if you want to meet up you can have a look at mine as it's running all standard so should be m-tech.
