Anyone know how easy it is to change from an automatic 325i transmission to a manual?
Can't imagine it being that hard but thought I'd ask
Cheers!
Alex.

There's a lot more to it thatn you'd initially think.
I'm pretty sure there's a big long topic on it so try doing a search. I'm planning on doing this to my girlfriends car, it's not that hard, just very time consuming.

Am in the middle of changing a 316i auto into a 325i manual and thats not too bad. Just a couple of small details to change. Wiring, fuel pump and a few other bits. Not sure on the differences from auto to manual on a 325 though.
Good luck anyway.

Not too bad. You'll need a gearbox, flywheel, clutch, pedal box, cluch slave cylinder and master cylinder, propshaft, centre console, disable the starter inhibitor, new throttle position switch, crankshaft spigot bearing, either modify the existing engine wiring loom or replace it with one from a manual car, geabox mounting, gearchange mounting bracket.
Sell it and buy a manual.

i hate reading replies like these as it makes it seem like so much effort and makes me wanna sell my auto and just buy a manual
Is it alot easier to do, ie not much more effort, if im doin my engine/gearbox/diff transplant at the same time?
ie goin from 316i auto, to 2.5 manual..

Arse, I was hoping it'd be really easy
I've got the engine out of my car at the moment and was hoping I might be able to pick up a reasonable shell to put it in.
Just thought an Auto might open up the possibilities of finding a cheapish one.
