How easy is it to remove an alarm. Its a Cobra alarm and was on the car when I got it last year, probably installed since 1991. It's giving me lots of problems and I just want to rip out at the moment, but a bit fearfull of what might happen if I do??

It's a matter of tracing back the alarm loom, and discovering what butchery the original installer has commited to your looms. Considerable in my experience.
Depending on how much the installer knew about E30 wiring, you should be led to the area of the front left speaker for connections to the interior light switch and central locking, and to the area above and behind the glovebox for power connections, connections to the indicators, and for the correct place for the imobilizer connection - a two pin connector with two green wires. Unless it has been "adapted" by the alarm fitter, there should be a matching plug with a loop of green wire tied tomthe loom nearby.

Ok, I spoke to a supposedly expert here in Dublin. He said there should be two green wires coming from the loom, he said to cut these and join them together and this should by pass the imobiliser which seems to be my main problem, would that be correct? Secondly, coming from a pure electrical novice, where is the loom?????
