Touring rear suspension

Tried to do a search on this but could not turn up anything.
Is it the suspension the same as the saloon/coupe. I would like to change the springs and shocks but donÔš't know if there is any difference with the touring rear. Was thinking of getting the Bilstine sport kit, but would like to know that it will fit before spashing the cash.
Was thinking of a 40mm drop front and rear.
Cheers

the tourings have different rear springs (and maybe shocks?) to allow for the extra weight. Although i think there are people running regular springs on tourers, it just its lower.

If you check with Motormec, you'll find the rear shocks are the same - there may be a slight 'poundage' increase for the spring rate, but unless you are hauling a caravan who can tell?

Tourings left the factory with Mtec suspension, harder rear springs, and aluminium front track control arms, though I've never come across one yet that still has them fitted.

Nothing you can really tell by looking that I know of, but magnets shouldn't stick to the front TCAs.

325i Tourings have the same suspension as the plastic bumper 325i Sport. But this just means the M Tech springs and some slightly better Boge gasdampers, not Bilsteins.
If you ordered a standard 320i/325i with sports suspension, you'd get the proper Bilsteins!
TCA is track control arm, or front lower wishone. It's the L shaped thing that secures the bottom of the front strut to the crossmember. 325i saloons and Tourings as well as M3's have alloy ones but most have been replaced with the standard steel ones. There's no difference in Geometry, they're just a bit lighter.
Touring rear dampers - now they're an utter joy to replace, especially the top mounts.

I just bought a couple of cheap dampers, with top mounts.
Are they hard to replace, we were thinking they were easyish?
What's involved?

only hard if you have to separate top mounts from the dampers

The problem is access to the two 13mm nuts that hold the top mount to the body. You've got to remove the rear seat edges and loads of trim. A complete bastard and you inevitably drop one of the 13mm nuts as well.

I've had all this trim and the seats out before when I changed the speakers/leather.
I'll be extra careful with the bolts!
Thanks for the advice Captain!
