1985 325i E30 radio fader control.
I thought this may be useful for someone.
I know there is a lot of information on this subject around but what I had recent trouble with was wiring the fader control connections, mine did not have a multi pin plug, Using wiring diagram 6500-2 showing the wiring connections 2,3,4,5, 6,and 7 for the speakers which do not correspond with the fader control numbers S1,A1,E2 S2,A2,E2, i did a search using AI which came up with multiple suggestions making things more confusing, Not being a auto electrician and not very good with electrics i did a trial and error exercise until i got the system to work correctly, In layman's terms i ended up with the following
Refer to wiring diagram 6500-2 Radio/power antenna My Radio is a Becker Mexico and this worked for me.
S1 connects to 6 right speaker connection plug on the radio.
A1 connects to 7 right hand front speaker.
E1 connects to 5 right hand rear speaker.
S2 connects to 3 left speaker plug on the radio.
A2 connects to 4 right hand front speaker.
E2 connects to 2 left hand rear speaker.
All these are the positive speaker wires, all the negative speaker wires are joined together. One thing to note is that the fader is between front and rear speakers, not left and right speakers which was found on a few two channel radios like mine.
Hope this is of help to someone. and posted in the correct place.
