Hi everyone,

When having a custom stainless exhaust fitted last week it was discovered that my fuel tank had a leak! Looks like it was rotting from the inside... apparently this is quite common for Japanese imports. It makes sense... sitting unused for a long time, condensation builds in the tank etc etc. It will need to be replaced (refurbishment seems like a long and expensive option which I'm not up for)

Anyway - I've had a quick look around and it seems like new 63L tanks can be bought new quite easily:

Has anyone bought one of these recently... any idea whether the ebay option is ok quality? And are there any other options I should be looking at?

Bought one from GSF couple of years ago (I see they don't do them now) and I can't really tell the difference from the original, it is decent steel and about the same weight (they both had a dent in so a good match there too!)

Problem is there is a lot of tin-foil panels out there and I would guess tanks too. Good ones are out there, if you cant collect make sure it has easy return if it is not fit for purpose.

ECP, wait for a day with a better discount, then collect if you have one local.

Yeah that's my worry about ordering the ebay option... might be harder to return if it turns out to be cr*p! That being said, the seller has fantastic reviews so it might be worth the risk for a £150 saving! I wasn't planning on replacing the fuel tank so it's real hit on the wallet

ebay is easy to return stuff, these tanks are all the same, just with different price tags, not so long ago they were just over £100!

Is there an issue though with fitting a 63 litre tank where the original is just 55 litres with fitment and gauge behaviour?

Return hose and the gauge needs to be changed for correct operation

i'm late to the party on this topic... i have the feeling i'm going to need a replacement tank due to E10 petrol left during 3 year storage.

There are a lot of options out there.
Whats the best, based on real life experiences for quality.
I have all the parts if a 63L upgrade is needed ; pump, 2 senders, return line and cluster gauge

63 litre tank is better than the earlier smaller tank. Every new aftermarket tank ive seen has been exactly the same regardless of supplier

Don't forget if upgrading from 55 to 63 ltr tank you need to wire the passenger side sender in series with thr driver side one. I recently upgraded to the larger tank on my build.
You'll need the 63 ltr fuel guage to match as said above.
Also, either the fuel pump for 63 ltr with just one outlet or you can use your existing 55ltr one but with a small piece of hose and block the end with a bolt and a jubilee clip as the 63 ltr tank fuel returns to the passenger side saddle not the pump as on 55 ltr version
(I wasn't a fan of that so I bought a 63 ltr tank specific pump)
