AFM Hack & AliExpress Upgrade

Hey all,

Hope everyone is well, it's been a while. I've been taking a look at my AFM recently (largely due to the suspect & over zealous amount of silicone around the cap) to see if it fixes my terrible stumbly idle which i have been chasing for some years now. There is a large previous thread on it where we cover a lot of bases that could be helpful for others.

So i removed the cap, and huzzah it looks as if someone has already done the old wiper move trick and it has scored deep tracks into the resistor board. I tried moving it a third time but there is really no room left on the strip, which in most cases makes this unrefurbishable even for the pros. This left me with a few options, a second hand AFM or buying a new board. Now i did find one on AliExpress that stated all the part correct numbers etc so have bought it and will give it a whirl. If it works out well I will let you all know and hopefully it could be a good little upgrade for those suffering with AFM issues. Spoke with the guys at BavAuto in the states who refurb these units and they reckon so many running issues come from these worn 30+ year old units.

looks good, keep us updated,

if the new board works i may buy one myself as it can't hurt to have a spare in stock.

Will do! Doing a bit of research looks like some of the Porsche 944 boys have used it with success in their AFM's
