Car temperature never goes above 60

Hi guys,

My mechanic replaced my VISCO last year, and a little bit before that we have put in a new thermostat and thermostat housing (it was rusted out).

Not sure when it started, but my car temp never goes to 90. Not even after hours of driving. The heater blower also doesn't get really warm. I have an infra -red heat-tester which tells me the coolant lines and everything is below 65 celcius.

What can this possibly be? Where to start looking?

Greetings!

Check the thermostat, it could be stuck open, the wrong one or less likely but not impossible not even fitted. I presume your mechanic is more reputable than that though.

Excuse me, forgot to mention that. We have recently put my thermostat in boiling water to test if maybe it would be better to use a high-duty thermostat. It opened just fine and did everything it should do.

It can only be the thermostat.

Six cylinder engines need an 82 degree stat and four cylinders 88.

Agreed....buy a new BMW item, under 30 quid, and not a 3 quid Autodoc piece of crap, this is an often over looked and very important part for the continued health and longevity of your engine.
