Drain holes

Morning guys.
Been chasing some leaks on the cabriolet. I’ve ordered new elephant trunk and cleaned the sill drain holes.
When looking under the drivers wiper, in the vent I cleared out the corner where the water should drain down. But I notice these holes.

I think this is causing some water to enter the car. When parked at angles it will flow into that hole first rather than down the wing.

Anyone know about this hole and what it’s purpose is?

First picture is not very clear but I don't think there should be a hole there.
Second looks like a bash in the sound proofing and shouldn't be a problem.

You should check for rust in the firewall behind the glovebox where the loom enters the cabin from the engine compartment. Results in a wet passenger floor. A common enough rust spot in an e30 and a nightmare to sort unfortunately.

Hi,
Sorry for the poor pictures .
The hole is perfect hole, looks factory, no rust around it.
The second picture is the other side of the hole, where (some) of the water is coming out and into engine bay. The sound deadening is almost perishing where the water is hitting it from the other side.

I shall have a look at the firewall next chance I get. Thank you
