Hi,

Anyone have a solution to why the aerial does not go down fully! If not can you get a direct replacement and where! The last top piece does not go down to close the aerial.

regards

Richard

This should fit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-Serie- ... 1040370805
I advise you to contact the seller first to ensure compatibility.

Yep if your car does not have a Hirschmann 2050 then that is what you need

I bought a cheapo one off eBay, fitted about 10 years ago, and it works perfectly.

Lots of cheap things work, but if you are spending a lot of time, effort and money putting a 325i Sport back to the way it should be then a Hirschmann 2050 is what should be there.

Have you tried WD40 on the mast?

Would't really use WD40 as it can get rid of the lubrication that is there and affect the plastics and rubbers inside probably making it stick. WD40 is not a lubricant and may leave a residue that gumms things up further.

If it is a cheap aerial it doesn't matter but some electric aerials are NLA and eye-watering money to replace so need looking after.

I would clean it with alcohol and then re-lubricate it with something like a silicone spray. Even better Hirschmann do the proper stuff like wipes and lubricant.

With most good aerials the mast can be replaced easily if needed without replacing the whole thing.

I'll stop here before Satan starts on what he lubricates his mast with

I did not get fitting the aerial yet as I had to replace fuel pump on my Regal 2450 which has been in storage for 4 years! But will look at doing this next weekend. I'll try alcohol to clean the aerial as the house is coming down with the stuff.:-)
