1) What are the signs of wear on this dohnut thing, small cracks?

2) Can anyone recomend a 17mm ring spanner for the job of undoing the nuts that are recessed in the round thing that cover it, the two I have are either too shallow or too wide to get in their.

Sorry for the use of none technical words
:)

1) yep cracks are what to look for

2) they call them 'swan neck' spanners or use a socket and ratchet

1. its called a guibo (or flex disc)

2. I used nothing more than the 17mm spanner from the toolkit in the boot.

I thought that by a mate who is a mechanical engineer said it's a weighted balance and it protects the Guibo thing. I just didnt have any spanners to get round it. You can't get a socket in on it as the bolts/nuts are resessed.

So goose neck spanners it is then
