Have a touring with manual windows all round, the carpet is currently out so I'm looking to do the electric windows upgrade properly. I bought the regulators and loom from a 4 door car - its been slightly butchered for the purposes of fitting some alarm, but I have it more or less repaired at this stage.

Question is - is it possible to remove just the window wiring from the loom, or is it a neater job to replace the whole loom including the central locking bits?

Split out the window loom this evening - not quite the nightmare I was expecting.

Still a fair bit of work involved bringing the wiring through the doors, boring holes in the console for switches etc particularly on a 4 door. Mine was an actual Retrofit kit fitted years ago but its just a 2 door. Having said that it is something that has never caused a problem.

Have the console bits done already - pretty impressed with BMW having the foresight to insert the metal supports into it. Carpets, dash etc are out of the car, so its pretty much the best time to do it.

You may or may not be aware that point Q on the accessory socket (C302) under the glovebox is the connection for power windows which would control the power side through the fusebox as it would if this were factory fitted. This connector is something that I intend to do as my set up was connected into the power mirror circuit.

Yeah that's where I'm connecting in - don't want to be hacking into any wires. Have cruise control and heated seats just gone in too - looking forward to getting the windows out of the way though.
