Good morning , has anyone ever replaced the rear boot lid torsion bars , I've mtech 2 boot spoiler which is too heavy for the exiting bars fitted , I've purchased the correct pair but I'm not sure how to replace them with out losing an eye or a finger or two

Yes you need to be careful, I think I've done it using pliers long time ago and I think there are two spots to mount them, one makes it stronger for spoiler and one just a lid

Easy way is to use pliers to pull off the clips which hold the strut on top and bottom.
Take top one off first and then bottom.
Put new strut on bottom first and push bootlid up as high as it will go.
You will see it will be easier to then bring it down to the top hole of strut.
Put top clip back on and then bottom.
Do the same on opposite side .
You will keep fingers etc safe like this a˜Š

gingerrusta, I think you are referring to gas struts in cabriolets.
The OP is asking about torsion bars in saloons.
Not the same things.

As far as I know, there should be a second slot in the torsion bar mounting by the hinges that you can move the end of the bar into to increase the force.
