Locking issues

Hi I'm having issues with my drivers door central locking...basically that door is sticking?failing to Lock?
I have carried out the red and black wire mod and checked the control module in the speaker well also I have checked and cleaned both door loom connectors..
If I sit in the car and push the passenger door pin up and down both doors/boot/petrol flap all lock and unlock perfectly..
This car has no key lock on the passenger door it was delocked from new by bmw at the original owners request,also I cannot unlock the boot independently or actuate the central locking from the boot? But when the drivers door lock is working all doors/boot/petrol flap work together perfectly. I have a couple of questions if anyone can help?
1. Does the red/black wire mod only get done on the drivers door or both sides?
2. Should I have the door card off and lubricate the mechanism inside?
This fault is intermittent and frustrating!!!
Any thoughts appreciated or if I need to look somewhere else?

Driver's side only.

Definitely! Pay special attention to the condition of the L shaped alloy piece on the back end of the lock barrel - that it can move freely and isn't badly worn.
The lock motor is mounted in slotted holes. A small adjustment in its position can sometimes compensate for some wear in the mech.

Thanks Brian I thought it only got done on one side but couldn't be sure....i'll have the door card off and have a look!

It sounds as though the boot lock also needs adjusting, the central locking should work from it.

You will probably find that the trim clips on the door card have become brittle with time and break easily, I would lay in a supply of new ones.

Fitting a RightClick remote locking module makes locking/unlocking more convenient and saves wear on the door lock itself. The kit is only about 20 quid and if you search you will find wise words from Brian on the installation.

These kits don't arm the deadlocks though, do they? I know the remote locking mine came with (looked dealer fitted, based on the paperwork with the car, and it's since been removed) didn't anyway.

This is true as they come, but you're deluding yourself if you think armed deadlocks are anything more than a minor inconvenience to anyone who decides they'd like to have your car. About on a par with any of the immobiliser systems I've seen.
There is another channel on the Rightclick kits, intended for operating a boot release solenoid. This could be adapted, with a latching electronic relay, to operate the deadlock system.
