E30 Zone

I get a vibration though the whole car at tickover and cant find what it
is any idears ??

Need a little more detail mate, it could be just about anything.

Has the idle speed dropped, is it only at idle? any other info you can give will help


but i am thinking misfire as a first thing to check for..... could be wrong though

Its only at idle smooth as u like any other revs,
not a miss fire sounds spot on all the time u just feel it
through the whole car even the exhaust moves with it.

have you seen the engine rocking about? it could be a engine mount thats gone if its smooth with load on but not at idle.

may be, replaced engine mounts a while ago with ones from Euro's
will check them i think

Yes, probably the engine mounts, I had a porsche 944 that vibrated badly at idle the engine mounts where shot!

Very specifically on that point, the engine mounts on the 944 are very very different to those on the E30s. The E30 uses simple blocks of rubber and a little damper in the case of some of the 4cyl engines.

The 944 has some crazy arrangement of oil and gas filled chambers in it's mounts to take out the shaking of it's vast 4pot engine at idle. Once off idle the balance shafts do the rest.

Pull the HT leads off one at a time to see if it stays the same or gets worse.
Could be one of those about to die and it's only showing with the weak spark at idle.

That or uneven fuel rate through the injectors so they may need a clean. Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£
