E30 Zone

Is there any knowledge out there with you folks as to what tyres you recommend - and definately advise against, for a 320i saloon running on 15" BBS alloys? Am considering Toyo, Nexus, amongst others.

Uniroyal Rainsport 3 excellent tyres. Went for the 50 Prolfile to lower the gearing slightly.

I wouldn't consider much else but depends on your budget

Proxies are rubbish
I fitted Hankook ventus last time and for a sensible road tyre they are really good

I've got some Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002 on mine. The invoice says they were £232 for four. Seem pretty decent so far.

I have RS3s on the back of my 330d, and I'm not planning to buy those again.

I've been running Toyo Proxes on my touring for the last 10 months or so, they are ok in the dry but may as well be called Toyo Poxys in the cold and wet! I've never had so much understeer in an E30
At the moment I've put some part worn Kumho Ecstas on the front and the front end grip is much better in the wet compared to the toyos.

I had Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Decent.

Now got Falken ZE914, no issues at all wet or dry.

I've got proxes at the moment not great as people say, its worth spending a bit more. I will go for the conti sport contact 2 next I don't think you will beat them. More prices from ebay

I also dont rate Toyo Proxes after having them on my car, pathetic wet weather grip along with premature perishing and cracking, stay away from them!

Is there a huge difference between the 50 series tyres over the 55's?

Not much choice in 205x55x15 guise unfortunately.

Toyos were ok when they were cheap. They cost much the same as everything else now and wear too quick.

Vredestein Sportracs are very good, Uniroyals also. I've currently got a set of Falken ZE914s and they've been decent. The stiffer sidewall helps the E30 IMO.

im using bridgestone adrenalin re003 205/55/15 for last few weeks (only in the rain) they seem better than 002 i used about 5years ago in the rain otherwise contis are a good alround performer except perhaps wear

I run proxies and the car sort of slimes it's way round the corner like a slippery eel but it's just a feeling I'm used to now. I think they're ok, been using the E30 every day for the last 5 months in winter conditions and I don't exactly hang about and have found them ok. I haven't lost it once, put it that way.

Thanks for all the feedback. As a result i have scratched Off Toyo's. I do not care for poor performance in the wet. I'm really hoping for Yokohama's as my best - anyone used these? Else i'm considering Uniroyal as mentioned here, Bridgestone's, Conti or Khumo. To broaden availability i could go to 50's profile, which i consider good for anyone else thinking of it on 15" BBS's, but my gearing is too high so i doubt i will.

I've had Bridgestone Turanzas on mine for the past six years. Only 35000 done on them and plenty of wear left. What is good though is the sidewalls show no signs of cracking or perishing which is the mark of a really good tyre.

Tyres are really subjective - a lot of it is personal preference or what you want out of a tyre. If you say which of these are more/less important to you we'll be able to suggest a bit better. Peak grip, progressiveness, feel, wear rate, fuel economy, noise, price, wet weather grip.

I went for Falken ZE914 because they have a stiff sidewall which gives me great feeling and progressiveness for a really good price. There are tyres which will give me more ultimate grip but I never drive fast enough to warrant sacrificing on the price and wear rate.
