Front roof trim replacement

I am looking to replace the front roof trim (including the joint) on the passenger side (my old one blew off on the motorway) and was wondering if it requires clamps to fix it to the rest of the car? Looking at realoem, doesn't seem like it ( http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpar ... Id=51_0829, parts 1 and 14 ) but last thing I want is this part to go off again

Appreciate the help

Thanks

on my car,the gutter-trim slots onto the gutter, but it's also secured to the a-pillar with 3 small serrated u-clips.
these clips rusting away over time is probably why your original trims have fallen off.

Thanks

Do the clips look like this?

And how are these fixed to the a-pillar?[/img]

them's the ones!- 51131863499,as you say.

they are held in place entirely by friction-i fitted my clips into the guttering first, then u fit gutter to car by fitting the main/horizontal part onto the car, then push the front part of gutter-trim into place on the a-pillar.

i put grease on the clips to stop them rusting again.
