Hi. Does anyone have a plumbing schematic drawing for the hoses which make up the headlights and washers for the hlww kit

I have a whole bunch of hoses and not sure how to fit it all together

Thanks

Not sure why you've put this in the Other BMW Technical Help section, Jim.

Useful though this link is, if you have HL wiper problems, it's of absolutely no use for routing and connecting hoses.

Try this, originally from my archives, and now in the wiki: http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/imag ... leaner.pdf

I've been wondering this too, thanks Brian!

That's going to need some effort to decipher though!

English text is at the end, but you have to keep referring back to the German section for the pics.
90% of the article is irrelevant to what you want to know, but it's all in there somewhere.

Ah, I didn't get to the English bits, but good to know it's there.

Trying to trace back the mess that I've got already will be the other challenge (and then making the wipers work for the same length of time each, rather than random durations etc.).

A 'one-day' thing, but at least I know the info exists now! :D

Both headlamp motors are triggered by a short 12 volt pulse from the control module on the washer bottle, along the black/yellow wire. Once the wipers have moved off of their stops, they are powered by the ignition switched 12 volts + on the purple/black wire, and their complete sequence of wipes is controlled by an internal cam and switch in each motor. Once the cam has done a complete turn, the internal switch opens, disconnecting the motor from the purple/black, and no further movement occurs until another trigger pulse appears on the black/yellow.
The right hand motor also contains a second cam and switch which connects the purple/black wire to the blue wire (to the headlamp washer pump) for the first part of the wipe sequence.
In short, once the wipers have started, their entire sequence is controlled internally in each wiper, and as long as power is on the purple/black, they should each complete their entire sequence of wipes and then park. If one doesn't, then the problem is inside the wiper assembly.

Brian, that's a great document and thanks for putting it in the wiki.

The trouble is that no-one will find it because it is not linked to in the wiki pages.

Need someone like Grrr to add links.

Ben

That's an awesome help Brian. Thanks.

I was assuming it to be the black control module, but that's working fine by the sounds of things. Either way, something for warmer weather as it's not urgent

You'll find it (and the approx. 70 other guides) if you enter the wiki via the sub forum of the E30 Tech Help forum, rather than the link under the page header.

Module on the washer bottle counts the number of times the main washers have been used with the lights on, and provides the trigger pulse after five times.

I still can't see it, Brian, sorry.

What should I click on in the sub forum of the E30 Tech Help forum?

Thanks
Ben
