Hi guys,

I have a Red 325i convertible thats starting to turn the dreaded pink,

What I'm after is if I flat and polish the car will that return the colour or will I need to get a fresh coat of colour put on in order to keep the Red looking good.

Ie, Is it the clear coat or the paint that is ruining the colour??

Cheers
Steve :)

The red should be a flat colur, i.e. no clearcoat, so you could try T-Cut to remove the pink oxidised paint and then give it a good coat of wax polish to protect the feshly cut paint. There are colour coded waxes available, so this might finish it a bit better than ordinary wax. Once you have a godd finish, its important to wax regulalry to keep it.

TBMW did an article ages ago about restoring the finish on a terminally pink E28. They just hired a buffing machine from the likes of HSS and buffed the paint work. This worked a treat in the pics but you have to be very careful around the corners and edges as you'll easily take all the paint off.

A thorough T-cut and polish should have similar effects tho.

Cheers fellas,

I have recently got a load of Meguiars stuff including paint scrub so I'll give that a go.

Thanks
