Gearbox output flange trouble

Hi all,
Really stubbed my toe today on the output flanges: i have a propshaft from a late 80s e30 and i want to mate it to my getrag 242 gearbox. I have got hold of a later getrag box, removed the flanges, but found the splines to be massively different from the one on the box. Anyone know the solution?
