Discovered a water leak in my Baur few weeks back seems that the drivers footwell was damp.
felt around to see if i could feel any drips above the accelerator pedal but was dry.
Left a towel there to but just seems to get wet around the sill area
of the carpet.
Havnt driven the car for a while either.
Anyone have any ideas.

I don't know much about e30s yet as i only got one on the weekend but my years panel beating say you should check the winscreen seal, the door membranes behind the door card and the heater box depending on what it's like on a e30

Sounds odd but what about from below? Only just got a e30 myself but I read about that not jacking jacking point people use which rusts the floor our below accelerator pedal.

Maybe also check the 'elephants trunk' scuttle drain

Carpet out, dry everything and sprinkle some talcum powder around the area - any water coming in will leave streaks in the powder which should point towards its source.

Cars parked on level ground, if that helps

If the carpet is wet it will need to come out to dry it properly so you could save yourself hours/days/months trying to guess where the water is coming in...

No, that would be rust, unless it's something silly, like a displaced grommet.
Elephant's trunk water comes from the heater vents.

Had another look today the water seems to be coming in by the drivers foot rest, would that be the elephant trunk issue, also the car has not been driven for several months so not coming from under the car.

It's coming in where it's coming in. Get some talcum powder spread around, and the trail'll lead right to the leak.
