I have acquired a 3.5 M30 powered e30 which is misfiring, any ideas what it could be?, what are the best and worst case scenario's?

Thanks

Is this a blue carbio ?

I'd check for

Spark
Fuel

and

Compression

in all cylinders.

First thing is to determine whether it's a particular cylinder (or cylinders) that isn't firing, or a random misfire. Ideally, you should short each plug lead to earth in turn, but pulling the cap off doesn't usually cause harm.

If you're daft enough to do it with your fingers, then you deserve what you get!
