Wiring! OBC/rev counter/interior lights not working FIXED
Posted: Sun Jun 14, 2015 4:49 pm
Hello
I have a 91 316i saloon M42'd
My OBC, tacho and interior lights (including bootlight, excluding glovebox) have not been working for a while.
The retrofitted OBC is receiving power (backlit) but nothing on the screen. This worked before.
Rev counter + econo meter do nothing.
Interior lights work under no circumstances. They rarely would come on extremely dim, but worked as they should, with doors etc. No delay timer fitted.
I have checked all the earths twice over, changed SI board for one from a working cluster, changed the whole cluster and changed fuses in the box.
I had some water coming into the passenger side footwell which was down to blocked sill drains. The carpet has been out for a while and these things became faulty during this time so this may be relevant.
I've had a good look through the Wiring Diagrams.

Splice locations
SOLVED - the S319 splice located half way between the passenger side speaker and passenger seat was badly corroded, loads of green stuff inside.
Wires cut back, soldered and all working again.
