M40 Cams

My M40 has the dreaded tapping of an oil starved cam. :'( How hard is it to repair/replace cams for a, competent, mechanic such as myself? And maybe a new oil feeder too!
I assume its not a matter of bolt off bolt on.

As the Wiki states, a worn camshaft will stop the engine revving above about 5,000 RPM....bad hydrolic lifters will cause a "tapperty" sounding engine but will rev OK.
Be careful when lifting up the camshaft as there are small "washer" things on top of the valves which are exactly the correct size to fit into the oil-return holes on the downhill side of the head...this means that these washers can end up in the sump!
So first make sure you block off these oil return holes with some old rags before you start or like me you will end up removing the small sump and have to use a magnet to find the missing washers lying on top of the larger sump piece!
