the water temp gauge on my 325i is affected by electrcal power drains. turning the heater on makes the needle jump up to 3/4.
Ive had a look at the nut on the back of the temp gauge and the si batteries, both are ok.
Any ideas what to check next?

Definitely sure it's not an air lock?

no i dont think it could be as other electrical drains can cause the temp to shoot up.
ive had the needle bouncing to my music when played loud enough.

Still sounds nut related. Dismantle the cluster and check out that the bolt is attached to what it should be in the gauge, and that what the nut connects the bolt to on the circuit board is intact.
