Is ther anyway of clearing the abs light without a scan tool? my light wont go off at all and have changed everything bar the complete abs wiring loom and still have a light shinning bright on the dash with no abs working, should the car not clear itself after a drive if the problem has been fixed or do I need the codes cleared ?

You can't clear the abs light with a scan tool on an E30, these cars are far too old for that technology.

If the light is not going out when when starting the engine then I would suggest you have a fault in the wiring or abs ecu. Have you taken any readings from the 4 abs sensor wires where they feed into the ecu, you should get a similar ohm rating across all 4.

You probably need to give a bit more detail of any event leading up to the light staying on, I had this issue when I replaced the engine loom which didn't have a live live feed from the relays to the ABS feed in the C101 plug.

As above; when the fault(s) is/are sorted, the light will go out.

Bit of an update, I temp wired in a complete abs loom and turned the key and the light went out on the new loom, so I traced each wire on it and made notes and then did same with my loom fitted to the car, each wires going to the wheel senser wers mixed up so I cut them and rejoined them and traced my wire goin to the dash light and it turned out my abs light was been by the bulb for lighting up my headlight switch so ther was no chance of it going out with abs system, so after I fitted a bulb holder to the proper dash wire and hooked all up boom my light went off wen engine started so thought all was sorted jumped in and drove off and light appears, so that makes me think its now a senser fault so I traced it till front left to night but have cleaned it and the ring and its reading 10 ohms constant like all the other 3 sensers, anyway of testing if its sending correct reading once wheel turns? if I unplug it the light stays off a lot longer so it deff has to be front left is causin my bother?

Can anyone tell me what the resistance shud be roughly for the working sensers please? and how can I test if the wheel is sending a signal when it spins?

Light initially off, and coming on when the car reaches 5MPH is usually a sensor fault, as you surmise.
Sensors should all have about the same DC resistance of around 980 ohms, and can be tested dynamically with an AC volt meter. They should produce a voltage of a few volts at least when the relevant wheel is spun.
If this is a fault that was with the car when you got it, it may be that the front sensors are on the wrong sides. They are not obviously different, but when fitted on the wrong side will produce close to no output.

got the problem in the end after all them other issues, I stripped both front hubs off to clean the pick up rings and check sensers wer the correct sides and bang the driver side ring had rusted away nearly so got new ring on and all cleaned up and went for a spin and bang the abs is kicking in and light is staying off so all is good now, thanks for all ur input guys cheers
