E30 323i fuel pump

Hi,

This is my first post so please be gentle.

I have trying to get a 1986 323i up and running after sitting iin a garage for 15yrs. I have checked the spark and it's ok but there is no fuel to the injector rail or the fuel filter. I have bridged the relay and that still hasn't turned the pump so i assume the pump is dead.

I looked on the various forums and they all point to the pump being under the rear bench seat and in the top of the tank. I have pulled that out but it looks like a fuel sender not a pump. Can someone tell me where the pump might be?

Please note, it is parked with the left side right up against a wall. The tyres are flat and access is difficult. So I'm guessing it's over that side somewhere!

When I work out how to put images in, I will!

Thanks

Hi, I think only the facelift models have an in tank fuel pump.

Yep it's rear passenger side, just in front of the wheel arch - try giving it a few taps before you commit and remove it

Thanks for the help. I will hunt it down in the most inaccessible place on the car! :x

I had a leaky fuel pump on my 1985 323i a few years ago, and its fuel pump was near side in front of rear wheel on the bottom of the chassis, depressurize the fuels system and protect your eyes, petrol does sting like F.

If the last time the pump ran was 15 years ago, I don't think you need worry about residual fuel pressure! :D
