Washer jet no work

Can anyone help??

My drivers side washer jet no longer does anything. The passenger side works fine. Don't think its clogged up around the holes.

I'm sure posts like this have been up before and I think the solution rested with a new bit within the hose, visible when you've got the hood open (near the top, looks like a valve I think?)

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

have you tried poking a very thin/narrow
needle into the jets
sometimes they can get clogged up
until last week I had only 1 jet per side

Haven't given it a proper poking yet, atleast not all the way through. But what if that doesn't work?

There is a small white valve fitted to some models and these do fail.

Try operating the washers with the bonnet open, if you see fluid pumping out of the side of one of the valves it's knackered. There is a releif hole in the side of the valve that spews out fluid when the rubber inside the valve has perished or blocked up.

The dealer should have these in stock for about Ԛ£4.

Cheers mate, I'll take a look. Tried sticking a needle through (as far as a normal needle will go that is) and nothing happened.

Cheers for the info!

The same has gone on my coupe, to check if it is that thats gone, you could remove the hoses going to the washer jets from the T piece and see if water comes out of the T piece on both sides.

My white valve gave me exactly the same problem. I removed the valve and put a normal T-Piece in and all is fine now

I have this problem with the white valve spewing water out of a little hole in the side. I am tempted to replace with a normal T-piece but was just wondering what this white valve actually does?

Sorry! Just did a search and found a post from last year that answers all my questions. It is a non-return valve to stop water leaking out of the washers and to make sure that water is there instantly. If water comes out of the side then it shows it is knackered. Need to get new ones from BMW for a few quid each. Sorry if you know this already.

Only problem now is trying to remove, and more importantly get back on, those little clips that hold the valve in place. I just can't get on with them. May replace for jubilee clips?

Cheers :D

Had a look yesterday and pretty sure I need to replace the valve as there was water pissing out those little holes. See what you mean tho Wid77 bout those little clips. I'm sure it will just take a little bit of swearing whilst working tho.

Thanks all for the info!

Slide part of the clip sideways to undo them. They can be refitted with a pair of electrical side cutters.
Small cable tie will do as a substitute.

That's the sort of thing I look for when I buy an E30, and adjust the price accordingly.
Gives an indication of how much care might have been taken over servicing and maintenance.

Electrical side cutters? Not too sure what they are? Would they be much better to use compared to small cable ties?

Thanks!

electrical side cutters are snips - like pliers only with cutting jaws like scissors

as mentioned above check that water is coming up to jet by having bonnet up and squirting. if water is there disconnect pipe and get someone with an air compressor and small nozzle (even a bike pump with adapter for blowing up a football may work) and blow through the washer jet from the outside to blow out any crap stuck in there.

if no water then report back old bean

Ahhh I see what you mean bout the electrical cutters, I was getting mixed up there

There is a very small drizzles worth of water coming out from the washer jet, but there's obviously not enough pressure to get it spraying properly. Gonna get my arse down to BMW tomorrow or during the week to get a new valve. Good suggestion with regards to pumping any crap out of the nozzle. I'll try using my footpump - has a small adapter thingy.

Cheers dude!
