Same question, I have bought a cam for a 325 with cat, I don't have a cat, can I still fit it? what is the worst/best that can happen? Someone suggested that the timimg attachment on the end could be different depending on whether it has a cat or not.

if it's a new part from gsf then surely they can tell you what engines that part number is compatible with?

my best guess is that the cam is the same for cat and non cat and the part markings simply mean 'compatible with cat equipped car'

or try looking on http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ to match up which 325i s have the same and which have different cams

sorry i can't be of more help.

The cam can be used on a cat or non cat model and will have no effect.

In simplistic terms - the cam opens the valves and lets in or out gasses. The only effect a cam can have is the timing / duration that it allows this to happen. Therefore it will affect where the powerband is.

As the engines on the M20 are the same (except for the ignition system) then there wil be no difference.

Check the profile is what you require and if ok then instal.

To make you even happier - do people change their cams when they decat their car - I think not
