medium case lsd whine

HI
Just fitted a LSD to my e36 rally car, lsd unit was out of a 325 e30 and a 4.45cwp off ebay, all second hand.
Ive fitted new bearings all round and correct grade lsd oil.
when under acceleration its fine and under heavy load its fine but once i come off the throttle it whines a bit and an initial clunk (thats because ive stuck some second hand driveshafts which turned out to be knackered one side :/ )
any ideas? should i be worried?
I had my uncle check over the bearings and backlash etc before fitting it and i had built it so the backlash was slightly slack which we thought would be fine.
