Removing & replacing M-Tech 1 steering with M-Tech 2

Hi Guys

I've just received my 'new' M-Tech 2 steering wheel that I bought off ebay. I removed the centre badge and managed to get the bolt off the steering column, but the bleeding thing won't come off. It loosens up at the bottom of the steering wheel but at the top is sitting as tight as ever. Is there anything I'm missing?

The M-Tech 2 wheel that I bought is the non airbag type and should certainly fit, but I'm lost as to why the old one won't come off.

Any suggestions?

That explains it then. I locked the steering wheel so that it was straight. Nice one. Cheers for the advice.

Is there anything else I need to loosen or remove or will the old one just pop off?

Just watch your teeth as you pull it off, had them suddenly come off all of a sudden and smash my self in the face! If possible leave the nut on a turn or two, then when you are sure the wheel has been pulled free, remove nut and carefully pull off the wheel.

I'M GUTTED!!!

The M-Tech 2 steering won't fit on! The back of the M-Tech 2 wheel has the attachment with the copper ring around it for the horn and the M-Tech 1 wheel is hollow inside with the attachment with the copper ring for the horn and therefore the wheel won't fit on at all. Is it just a case of removing that attachment from the old wheel and fitting it to the new one?

I was really under the impression that the M-Tech steering wheel would fit. Oh what to do....Guess I'll have to sell it or is there something I'm missing otherwise I will have lost out on something that would have looked so nice.

I would imagine it's an E36 steering wheel then, but the w@nker that advertised the steering wheel on ebay said that it was off an E30 M3 and when I asked him again, he confirmed that it was.

Oh well... Anyone looking for an E36 M-Tech 2 steering wheel?

I'll have to take some pics and post them on the site for everyone. The steering wheel is in excellent condition though. Anyone want to make me an offer?

E-mail the seller and tell him!! Idiot shouldn't have advertised it as an E30 wheel..

He advertised it as a BMW E30 E36 M Tech II steering wheel, but it's clearly NOT for an E30. I've mailed him to let him know.

Well that's definitely false advertising, E30/E36 wheels are not interchangeable, I suppose it depends now on if the seller is a decent person or not or if he's like the 99% of the scum using e-bay.
