Is Applying Window Tint Myself A Good Idea?

I wouldn't mind tinting out my rear windows to my coupe, thing is I've never done this before so there is chance i will mess it up.
Ive got a quote of like £130 to tint the rear windows but it will cost me like £50 tops for pre cut tint or cheaper again for just a roll. Is it worth trying to save the money and try to do it myself or is there too much room for error.

If you get a long enough roll then at least you have plenty if you do balls up but at least you can practice,
£130 is about right price wise to get a projob done.
If you decide to do it yourself then get the longest roll you can, take your time & fingers crossed you'll get the results you want.
I did mine a few years ago, got a 5m roll, took my time & got it right after a few ball ups lol.

This is a subject that I know absolutely nothing about, but if I were to attempt it myself, I would be strongly tempted to remove the screen and apply the film flat on a bench, since E30 screens are so easy to remove and replace.
This would make trimming the film to size easy, and leave the edges of the film secured under the seal when reinstalled.

If the windows come out easy enough I might do that and get a roll then. Have a few practise and see if i can get it nice.
My mate has his own little workshop, so i've got help if needed.
cheers guys

If you can get that set from pete then go for that,
At least that way if you ever change your mind you have a set of original glass to put back in.

Yeah I'm just going to go for popping the glass out and having a little practise myself.
Be much easier to get a nice finish and wise to keep the edge of the tint behind the seals.
