Hi chaps... In need of your help!

I'm looking for both wings for my cabby as it's about to be resprayed but there is too much rust In the existing wings... I have been tirelessly looking but just can't find any cabby front wings... So... Is it possible to pick up wings from another e30 and weld a plate to extend the bottom? Basically will they fit?! Please help! Thanks Justin

yes on all counts, IIRC its the sill that's longer on cabby wings and even OE wings have an extended piece spot welded to a normal E30 wing.

It can be done with sheet metal if the guy doing it has good skills

Yes, Your solution was what I was going to be my suggestion.

Seems to be fairly common way of dealing with cabriolet wings now.

Convertible wings are unique because of the deeper sill section. The bit that is usually missing :(

You need a bit more than a 'plate' you need the convertible specific lower part of the wing. The part that is usually rotten and missing . A handy metal worker could obviously fabricate this section, if he had a pattern to work to, at a cost. Or for a simple aggro free fix you could buy my excellent wings :)

All wings the same, give or take a hole for the indicator repeater. Extension piece is easily formed from a 7" square of steel - it's essentially flat in the horizontal plane, and curved slightly in the vertical, with flanges formed on three edges.
The joint to the rest of the wing is hidden under a trim piece, so the welding doesn't have to be pretty. Pop rivets would do at a push.
