Hi chaps

Have managed to remove old bush but having issues fitting the new. tried heating the lollipop up and whacking the bush in but that failed as rubber melted in the new bush!!!

any advice or tools recommended? Maybe some close to me can give me a hand?

thanks in advance

i take it you mean you are trying to push the bush onto the control arm off the car?

if so use a solution of water with a small amount of fairy liquid added as a lube

if you are trying to fit the lollipop into the metal bracket use a vice, make sure they are aligned correctly first

yup its the metal bracket thats the ballache. Dont have a bench vice but might look for one now that you have mentioned it.

either take it to a garage or friend who has one and it will fly in

or

use something like a jack under a car to force against (with suitable drifts )

You can also try leaving the lollipops in a bowl of hot water for a while before fitting as this will soften the rubber slightly.

If you don't have a press, might jacking a wheel up and lowering it or the disc down onto it work? I just took mine to the local garage, £5 and they removed the old ones and popped the new ones in for me. No hassle!

Where I had issues was getting the lollipop bushes back onto my new wishbones. If you have new wishbones, sand all the paint off the ends of the new ones completely, use tons of lubricant (I used fairy liquid) and try and put all your weight onto the wishbones to pop it in.

I hope you haven't used copper grease to slide the bushes onto the control arm pins. If you have, the chances are your new bushes won't be new very long.
Don't bother with the poly rubbish. All you'll do is cause road noise, vibration and add unwanted friction to the suspension.
