I've done and not really noticed a difference. I wouldn't removed it altogether.

thanks Imy, so relocating the battery and the removal of the harmonic damper in its place has had not left you with any additional vibration issues etc??
assuming you had no issues and the weight of the battery substitutes for the harmonic damper then it could be removed and the battery located in its place??
hmmm”¦anyone else done this?

Whether or not you can notice the removal of the damper depends on the condition of the rest of the suspension and car. If the suspension is as new, then you'll notice it. 20 year old suspension and you won't.
The damper isn't a rigidly mounted dead weight - it sits in rubber mounts which are essential to its operation, so substituting a battery for it, even one of the same weight, isn't going to have the desired effect.

You could remove the rubber mounts and stick them underneath the battery

That had crossed my mind, but I'm not sure I like the idea
of the battery wobbling around in the boot..!

You would secure it down though using the mounts or make some up?

The E30 M3 convertible has the same 'weight' in the boot and a unique metal battery tray is attached to it.
E36 convertibles were actually specified with a special vibration proof battery so that the battery effectively became the harmonic damper.

I removed the weight out of mine. The only difference was a 3mm increase in ride height on the RR that I adjusted out. I have bilstein sports, eibach pro kit up front, coil overs in the rear, larger sways, new bushings, strut bar, etc...
