Hello everyone, im getting a hydraulic handbrake tonight and i have a choice between a 600mm lever and a 280mm
so my options are:

1. get 280mm and mount on top of tunnel

2. get 600mm and mount on top of tunnel (have more leverage but will be quite big)

3. get 600mm and mount on passenger side of tunnel

What are peoples thoughts?

Cheers

Get a tape measure out and look at what 600mm is...........................
It`s bloody huge for a car handbrake although you could mount it vertically outside like an old bus 8O

How do these work by the way?

Mart.

ha i have been thinking 600mm is bait too big, but it would be floor mounted?

basically it goes inline where your fronts connect to your back, pulling the handbrake forces the fluid to the rears only giving instant lock and unlike the normal handbrake there is no cable to stretch

I'd go longer and cut it down, you'd be amazed how tiering a day or weekends drifting is. I go to the gym 4 days a week and after a weekend drifting I really struggle to give the wand a good tug.

the longer the handle the more lever effect you have and therefore the less effort you (As a person) put in to get the cylinder to be pushed.

plus, as long as the handle doesnt get in the way of your hand going from wheel to gearstick, you can grab the handle anywhere along it's length (very handy for when your looking out the drivers side window and your hydro handle isn't in view... you can't put your hand too hight and "miss" it... not something you want when you desperatly need to scrub speed! lol)

my last advice is - buy a very good handbrake... don't even consider going near and ebay special - it will brake, and it will do it after very little use (one I had broke so that the fluid leaked out and we lost brakes!)... and until it breaks it will be naff, very little pressure from the rubbish piston

Longer the better, will make it easier to lock the wheels with minimum effort.
You will want to put it between gear lever and steering wheel, that's the perfect position.

This is mine:-

I`d say go big and cut it down if its a metal handle. If its a nice one with a grip on it i`d go smaller. You really dont need a masive handle, mine was done by someone else and in all my other drift cars i`ve had regular size ones.

Lets face it, hydro hand brakes are cheating anyway so its better to have it far away so you dont become a handbrake queen.
