Illuiminated Rear Heated Window Switch

I want to do the mod as in the tech articles, where do i get the "Modified" switch from ?

yes mate ou need demister switch and a hazard switch to mod

Take the bits out of the donor hazard and put into the demister ?

Yeah, that's basically what needs doing. I also change the reisistor value to give the correct brightness.

Aparently you can just swap the switch cover from a heated rear window switch into a hazard switch and it works. Never tried it like this though.

Right, Ive got the two switchs in front of me, both in peices, which bits from the hazard do i put into the rear heater ?

Thats not what i need, The Actual rear heated Screen Switch internals need bits adding to it from the inside of the hazard switch. But i dont know which bits.....

Then what are the rest of the wires out the back of the plug (window) for? If I remember, the hazard has less wires. Eitehr way.. I'm going to do this mod right now! ;)

The Hazard Switch has 8 Connetors on the back, the heated screen switch has 4.

The Hazard Switch has 8 Connetors on the back, the heated screen switch has 4.
yes but the 4 terminals on the heater switch is the same layout as the 4 on the hazard switch.
The others just are not used

So if the swap has made is the extra wire needed from the tech article or it will work without it

Hmm.. slight problem. My heated switch plug has 3 wires/pins.. where did my 4th one go???

Yes, as this is the "Dimmed" supply for the bulb.

so the extra wiring is needed, u cant just swap the cover of a demister on a hazard switch and violá.

Right, here goes.

Switch covers are swappable

The extra wire is needed to supply the voltage to the switch for the dimmed light.

Atleast a hazard switch to butcher, but a spare heated screen one aswell, just in case, also a spare spade connector for the heated screen.

Someone please explain this modification to me?

My defroster switch already lights up, and dims with the dash lights.

So does the one in my girlfriends 89 325i...

As standard, the rear heated screen switch is not illumminated when you switch on the lights, only when the switch is in the "On" position.

Not sure if this happens on US models.

Nah, a spare rear screen switch.

Youll need atleast one hazard switch to butcher, and a spare rear screen in case of.......something !!
