I used this on an old car of mine and had no end of serious problems from that day forward. For that reason alone I'd never use the stuff again.
I don't see how a spray can get rid of carbon deposits. Carbon buildup is rock hard and I doubt it's going to do that much anyway.

i heard that removing the deposits can sometimes actually make performance worse

I posted a similar question recently and based on the negative feedback decided NOT to puchase this stuff.

Power Boost has been tested by a few well known magazines (ignoring boy racer mags) and the results have been favourable. I have used it before on an old Golf....it made no real difference in my opinion but then again it was only a 1300 so it would be hard to notice.
The concerns are that some carbon deposits help out the compression, hence with the tradition head off de-coke you used to leave a ring of carbon around the edge of the piston crown to help it out. If you are worried then I would do a compression test or leak down test first to see if there are problems with the valves or the rings, if everythings fine then use the foam if you really want to.
If the performance is that off that you can notice it then really you would need more than the foam to sort it.

Carbon can be broken down by emosphates which is what the 10k product uses, in fact it breaks it down in seconds and works very well indeed.
