My nearest to the near side headlight (ie passenger side nearest the wing out of the two) is rattling around on only one fixing, i found the plastic mounting bracket to be schnapped, can this mounting bracket be replaced or is it the full headlamp assembly what needs replacing???

it is obviously affecting the direction of the headlight, hence will fail an mot and it will need one shortly after i get the bugger running!

Cheers...

You should be able to get the mounting bracket from a scrappy.
If not then a new one will still be available.

The light mounts on a ball and socket principle, have you got headlamp adjustment in the car? if you have and they don't work now is a good time to rip it out.

You just need new plastic 'sockets' fitted to the rear of the lamp. Quick trip to a scrapie will show you how they mount. You can remove the plastic sockets by turning them 90 degrees then push them out. Fitting is the reverse!

Have a look at the lights, it's a lot easier to do than it is to explain.

I bought one once that had a couple of the headlamps glued to the grill with black silicon rubber!
Virtually every individual part is still available for E30s from the dealer, and often at a price much less than you might think.
If you mean the large black plastic frame, then this would be best got frame a scrappy, or ask in the E30 parts wanted section.
