Fuel pump variations ?

Hi dudes,
My fuel pump is giving me a bit of Jipp I have a 55 litre tank with the fuel return on the pump but I also have a brand new pump that came with a previous car that is out of the 63litre with no return pipe on the pump.
My question is will the actually pump fit any housing?
Can I take the brand new pump off the new housing and fit and resolder it to my old housing with the return feed ?
