I looked on wiki but found no joy, I have a nice pond in my rear boot pocket.
Is this likely to be the boot seal/ tail light gasket?
Where could I get these from? Gsf?
Cheers Ed

Light gasket is the main suspect. You can buy them from BMW. Surprisingly! :D

At the bottom of the "pocket" there should already be a drain hole which will be blocked up. If for some reason there isnt you can drill a small one at the lowest point as a quick fix - just be sure to treat the metal once you have drilled the hole.

As above though if you pull the trim panel out there may be nasties lurking 8O

Light gaskets are expensive for what they are

Yes the light seals are notorious for leaking. I replaced mine and drilled out the drain hole to,make it bigger. It has not leaked since

There should NOT be an open drain hole in the bottom of E30 boot pockets. The drain hole is for part of the factory painting process, and should have been blocked with seam sealer. Water is not supposed to get into the pockets in the first place, and won't in any half decent car.
Take the boot liners out and spread talcum powder around. Any water finding its way in will leave streaks in the powder.
Is the aerial drain tube fitted properly?

The drain tube was absent on mine...replaced that and no leaks since!

This problem has puzzled me for the best part of a year, I finally found the aerial to be leaking down thge mast and out the drain hole at the bottom.

A piece of tubing pushed on the bottom of the aerial and routed out the side vent done the trick.

Bringing an old thread back..

I've just found a good few inches of water in this pocket on my car. I can't feel any water from around the light but I can see an open black pipe on the bottom of the aerial unit.. I'm guessing that's meant to connect to something then?!

Does anyone have a picture of how it should be please?

I better have a look when I get home tonight.

I'm pretty sure that pipe is supposed to poke out of the pocket to just behind the wheel arch.

I had no pipe on the bottom of my aerial unit and had some spare fuel hose which fitted nicely, so just put that on and poked it through the existing hole at the bottom of the pocket/well.

I'm sure someone will have a nice pic!...mine would most likely be misleading!

Can someone explain if the hose shown is the sunroof drain and does the aerial drain hose tee into it?
