If you read this thank you for trying to help..
I have got a bmw e30 316, it is on coilovers on the back and cut springs on the front (another problem).
Question 1)
I would like to get my coilovers fitted on the front and go low but the problem is on my car my sump is already like less than 3 inches off the floor! And i don't know what to do.. If anyone has any ideas or has had this problem before please please help me!
Question 2)
I have got the full suspension kit and as i said my rear coilovers are fitted but they don't fit on the front and what i've been told I need is both 325 suspension legs with the 51mm wide sleeve (because that's what I need) my coilovers are 51mm wide and as mines only a 316 my standard shocks are 46mm wide.. If you can see my dilemma?
If anyone has any advice on this aswel I would be very great full!
Lewis

In terms of your low sump, either lift the car, buy a sumpgaurd or start collecting spare sumps, you'll need them if you are planning to drop the car further.

as previously suggested - go for a sump guard and some spare sumps
as for the suspension, you can get the 51mm struts with discs and calipers and bolt it all up

Everything you need to know about E30 suspension is here:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Suspension
But you'll just have to get used to smashing sumps.

Hey lewis i've encountered the exact same problem, my 316 was sitting so low there was only an inch, maybe 2 inches off ground clearance from the sump, i killed the sump 4 - 5 times, dried out the local scrap yard and constantly hastled friends i knew with e30's, its a pain in the ass when your swerving round every single stone and raised drain cover in the road, worried it will pierce the sump. I eventualy went and got myself a RPM sump guard but found that the distance between the sump guard and the ground was minimal, creating more problems than i had before. So i went out and got 51mm struts, got some proper springs and left the car sitting much higher. Your best bet is to get a sump guard made for you / make one yourself - and there is / was a thread on for sale section with a chap that was making them for a decent price OR raise your car a little OR get a non m40 engine

How's that going to help ? The M40 is probably the lightest engine you got in an E30.

Your welcome mate, and if your thinking about getting new struts/ springs take a quick look at my photo gallery thread and you'll get an idea on how low it sits on proper springs and 51mm struts. I personaly think mine is sitting a little to high but you can get e90 top spring perches that lower the car by 11- 12mm i think, although i've heard a few people have encountered issues with them.
and wow 3.6k is quite a hefty price for insurance! When i got my e30 i was paying 960£ a year with 6 points and being 20, now im 22 and have 0 points im paying 650£ on a 316, I hope your insurance becomes cheaper!

Jesus, 6 points and a ban. You don't learn do you? Do you like handing fistfuls of money to insurance companies?

From my previous experience its not hard to get points on your license. I once got a PC20 'Contravention of Pedestrian Crossing Regulations with moving vehicle'. This was when i had my Aprillia RS125, i was cruising along the seafront when the traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing went red. There where a few cars in front of me, so like any other motorcyclist i filitered through the traffic via the center of the road. The car at the front of the queue had edged over the pedestrian crossing itself whilst the ligths where red so i had to position myself at the front of the queue in the middle between both lanes instead of being infront of the first car. So like usual i waited for the lights to go green, when they did i accelerated and safley and pulled infront of the car infront, HOWEVER this is apparently classed as a PC20, and so, to my luck a road cop bike came flying up behind me beeping and flashing his lights, asked if i knew why he pulled me over and i told him i had no idea, he then explained what a PC20 was. I argued the fact that all cars where stationary and i made no attempt of overtaking on the padestrian crossing however the police man had a different opinion. So all in all i recieved a £60 fine i think, 3 points on my license and got my bike impounded all for something i dident even realise was illegal!
Basicaly the moral to the story is there are alot of ways of getting points on your license, some more obvious than others. I could garuntee that not even everyone on this forum knows that one tire below its legal limits is an instant 3 points. A set of 4 tires below the limit is an instant driving ban!

I don't want to be the Forum Bellend, but tuna, your post reads as "but that's not FAIR!"
The stuff you mentioned is all in the Highway code. Your story says the car was stopped at the lights partially on the crossing and you parked in front of him... which means crossing a red light and parking on the pedestrian crossing, unless I've read the story wrong.
Seems like you're on your way to a lot more points with that way of thinking.

I meant i couldent pull in front of him because he was partialy on the crossing, so i had to position myself next to the driver side door, just on the inside of our lane, and i guess as i pulled away, along side him when the lights went green thats considered as over taking at a pedestrian crossing? And sure its all in the highway code and yes i should of know better but my point is there are things like that, and sometimes its not as obvious as others.
